The Member States of the European Union have a long tradition of safeguarding fundamental rights. The EU itself is built on these values and is committed to guaranteeing the rights proclaimed in the Charter of Fundamental Rights. People need to feel safe, respected, secure and share a sense of belonging within a wider community. Protecting and promoting fundamental rights can make this a reality for everyone.
Michael O’Flaherty is the Director of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), the unique and independent centre of fundamental rights excellence. In his presentation, he will address issues such as what fundamental rights really are, why they are relevant for everyone, how you come across them in your daily life, including in your interactions with fellow human beings.
You are invited to discuss these and related topics with Mr. O’Flaherty, Director of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights,
